 "The Blue Ridge Heritage Project is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to honor and memorialize the families displaced from the Blue Ridge Mountains when Shenandoah National Park was established in the 1930s."

The Park was formed from parts of eight Virginia counties:

Albemarle, Augusta, Greene, Madison, Page, Rappahannock, Rockingham, and Warren.

The memorial is located at the corner of Celt Road and Main Street in Stanardsville, VA. adjacent to the county's Administration Building at 40 Celt Road. 


Across the road from the monument is the historic Stanardsville Town Hall.

After extensive research, the BRHP committee listed 69 Family names to the plaque.

There are six information panels.


Each panel depicts an area of the families lives: home, school, church, socialization, work, and typical family life.
