"The Blue Ridge Heritage Project is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to honor and memorialize the families displaced from the Blue Ridge Mountains when Shenandoah National Park was established in the 1930s."
The Park was formed from parts of eight Virginia counties:
Albemarle, Augusta, Greene, Madison, Page, Rappahannock, Rockingham, and Warren.
Two information panels at the front of the memorial: a map of the Greene County land acquisition for the park, and the BRHP narrative of the displacement.
There are six information panels.
Each panel depicts an area of the families lives: home, school, church, socialization, work, and typical family life.
Text and photos are presented.
